opening my heart

veins and sinew,
the chaos of life
drenched in blood.

these raw throbbing
uncertain and precarious deliberations,
some truths, some lies

muddled with half-truths and half-lies,
and how love requiems and emotions converge
competing for their space among unspoken words

that sigh softly on my lips,
the colour of your eyes
and that look you give me when you know.

opening my heart
seems to be
unnatural to me

new to me,
like leaving myself exposed
gently unfolding my core

to your inquisition,
nothing remains hidden as you interpret me – line by line
verse by verse.

your finger on my racing pulse.
